JOLEDO OYEWOLE CORPORATE FARMER AND KINGSMAN
"Hi, I am Oye, an agricultural scientist at the National biotechnology development agency, Abuja. I use agro-biotechnology to tackle the problem of food insecurity in rural communities in Nigeria."
Oye is a scientific officer 1 at the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), Consultancy and Extension division. My passion has been to harmonize the policies being made my policy makers in the agricultural sector with the desires of the relevant stakeholders (farmers, populace etc). I noticed a serious gap between what farmers on the ground required and the national policies being dished out. Am a graduate of Agricultural Economics from University of Ilorin (Bsc. And Msc), and currently a PHd student at UNIABUJA. I am the corporate farmer and the farmer’s voice.
I believe biotechnology can immensely help to tackle food insecurity in Nigeria and therefore we carry out regular collaborative campaigns with ADP and farmers to introduce high performing crops, and animals to their agricultural activities. This has seen over 200 farmers participate in such forums and also we also have been able to deploy biotech crops in such forums. Biotechnology adoption in some certain areas in Nigeria is slow and usually fought against; we therefore carry out research and campaigns in rural areas as it relates to agriculture biotech especially to find out ways of getting farmers to adopt such technology.
I also am the CEO of 8-O-J limited a private company to cater for the proper establishment of farms as profitable enterprises. Here we prepare and write bankable feasibility studies for private and corporate farmers seeking bank loans, grants or interested in farming as an enterprise, we also carry out extensive agricultural training in various enterprises. This firm stemmed out from the need to tackle the rising failures of many agricultural enterprises in Nigeria. Some of our clients we have serviced include, CBN, NACRDB, BOI, BIODEC, Governors, Senators, private, corporate and rural farmers, etc.
I also established the House of David International in 2005, a non-profit group particularly interested in the training of teenagers to young adults in business, art performance, education and social responsibility. We have over 250 members currently and constantly increasing.
I also established Kingsman Accessories out of the need to satisfy the corporate fashion need of the total modern day gentleman, with a social network followership of over 11,000 people (Facebook and Instagram combined). We offer suits, ties (bowtie, long ties), company lapel pins, corporate shoes etc. We have dressed men from all walks of life both nationally and internationally. We currently have our store at Abuja and customer representatives in 10 states in Nigeria.
