OLAJIDE ABIOSE- THE CIVIC TECH ENTREPRENEUR

Olajide Abiose is a civic technology entrepreneur and driving change in his country’s governance is his life objective. He founded InfusionTech, an organisation that seeks to make processes and interactions between government and citizens effective through digital technology. He holds a degree in Food Technology but has chosen this work because of the damage poor governance does to lives in Nigeria. His tech interest lies in product design. With InfusionTech, Olajide has successfully launched a product that is currently in trials with a state government in Nigeria. This product, an open data revenue mobilisation system that improves government service delivery will impact over a million citizens within the next one year.
Olajide advocates for sustainable development and currently serves as an Executive Assistant (Projects) at the Foundation for Leadership, Ethical Evolution and Sustainable Development (FLEESD). His current advocacy drive is on Goal 16 of the UN SDGs; Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, with a focus on reducing corruption and bribery, and developing accountable and transparent institutions at all levels of government.
Olajide is also a young politician and he encourages youth participation in politics, he believes that “young people must take part to take charge”. Starting out as a campus politician, Olajide served as the Chairman, Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall, at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and still maintains a relationship with the hall via its alumni association. Currently, Olajide is a political appointee of the Oyo state government, where he serves as Liaison Officer on Environment and Water Resources for the Office of the Executive Governor.
Upon completion of the fellowship, Olajide plans to scale up InfusionTech’s product offerings for governments by introducing new and efficient technologies like the blockchain and machine learning into design and development considerations. Within five years, he hopes to better the lives of twenty million Nigerians across the country through InfusionTech’s digital products alongside his personal and political projects.
