CHIBUZOR AGOMUOH - THE STORY OF SUNRISE

"Hi, I am Chibuzor Agomuoh, a Youth counsellor working to curb youth delinquency and youth violence using excellently tailored youth intervention programmes."

SunRise, now known as The SunRise Youth Intervention Organisation, was founded by me in 2011 in response to the several incidences of youth violence in Calabar. 

SunRise has given thousands of young persons access to information on proper lifestyle choices and skills for productive living through some of its projects such as: 

The SunRise School Tour: 
In the last four years, the organisation has had over 42 school outreaches in Cross River State, Nigeria. The 3-day seminar in each school educates young persons on Academic Excellence, Sexual & Reproductive Health, Safety Consciousness and Active Citizenship.

Over 35,000 young persons have been reached, 8,344 educational materials have been given away as gift items, and 58 young persons have participated in our one-year scholarship programme. 

The SunRise Academy for Young Leaders 
This is a follow-up programme for the SunRise School Tour. This project is designed to equip at-risk youths with leadership and interpersonal skills to help them engage properly with the world. 


 

A person becomes what he/she ruminates and marinates upon. In view of this, we ensure that young persons are transformed through the renewal of their minds. 

Our team of facilitators run them through a series of courses such as: 
  
  1. Excellence-oriented Living 
  2. Leadership Basics 
  3. Relationship management
  4. De Escalation Techniques 
  5. Personal Finance 
  6. Health Management 
  7. Success Habits 
  8. Social Graces 
  9. Public Speaking 
  10. Creative Writing 
  11. Social Media Strategy, etc. 
The above courses are part of our Blue Certificate Course Work.  
The Brown Certificate Course Work is specially designed for our skill acquisition programme which includes;
  • Web Development & Digital Marketing 
  • Garment Making 
  • Shoe Making and 
  • Bead Craft 
This is done in partnership with PSIFON Org. and Penzrah School of Fashion. 
Over 300 young persons have graduated from this programme.  

The SunRise Convo with Chibuzor 
This is our weekly radio talk show on Hit 95.9FM tailored to provide young persons with quality information for daily living.


 
Topics center around health, social activities, spirituality, education, etc. Transcripts of our radio talk show can be found on our website: www.sunrisegospelzone.com. 

The SunRise Sessions
This special web series began in January 2018. It is a follow-up programme for the radio talk show, with 3 videos already uploaded on the Facebook Page: SunRise Transformational TV. 

The series has had over 20,000 views from Facebook users around the world. Ten (10) more episodes are waiting to air beginning from May 29 to August 2018.



Part of our strategic plan for the next five (5) years is to set up ‘The SunRise Youth Rehabilitation Center’ in Calabar. This will ensure that proper help and support is given to young persons struggling with various forms of drug and emotional abuse.

DR CHISOM- FOUNDER OF THE CHILDREN SOLACE NGO

"Hi I am Chisom, a medical doctor who founded a non-profit organization called Children Solace, which focuses on promoting access to quality healthcare and education for under-privileged children enabling them to reach their full potentials." Chisom is a community advocate with over  four years experience in Child health and education. She is the founder of Children Solace, a non-profit volunteer organization that aims at building a community where access to healthcare and education is guaranteed for the under-privileged children; expanding their opportunities to reach their full potentials.
